Who is SCA:iri admin?

Hi. In the SCA I am known as Reyni-Hrefna, and I mainly study settlement era Iceland, but always branch out and get distracted.

Reyni-Hrefna (Jen), in a headshot, wearing orange and purple garb that looks somewhat Greek.

I also like to cook, especially Viking age foods. I have been know to have dinner parties at Pennsic.

Reyni-Hrenfa (Jen), wearing her blue viking age garb, stands next to an iron tripod that has an empty viking age kettle on it.

And, when not in the SCA, as my alternative persona Jennifer Johnson, I spend my time studying the genetics of foxes at the University of Illinois. Over the years I have published a bit of work in the field of genetics.

The foxes I study are from Russia, and have been bred for over 50 years to act tame.

So, why am I doing the SCA:iri project? Because I want to bring some of the knowledge and skills I have acquired as a scientist, when it comes to how we share research, to the SCA. This project is to see how well some of the models we use in scientific conferences can translate to the SCA. It is intended to be a living project, as we have more and more session, we will learn, and adapt the model to something that should hopefully work well for us.

Oh, and what do I do for fun? One of the things is travel. And of course I bring a friend. My travel companion is Olaf the Fox. Check him out on my instagram.
